Ureaplasma_parvum
Names Ureaplasma parvum serovar 3 str. ATCC 27815
Accession numbers NC_010503
Background Gram-negative staining, nonmotile, microaerophilic Mollicute. Round or coccobacillary shaped. Occurs predominantly in the human urogenital tract with less frequent apparitions in the mouth or respiratory tract. It is usually a commensal organism, however it can become an opportunistic pathogen. Significant cause of adverse pregnancy outcome, neonatal infections and possibly male infertility. Hydrolyzes urea with the production of ammonia. Like all mycoplasmas, Ureaplasma does not make a cell wall. (EBI Integr8)
