Thermotoga sp. RQ2

Names Thermotoga sp. RQ2
Accession numbers NC_010483
Background Thermotoga sp. (strain RQ2) is an anaerobic hyperthermophilic bacterium isolated from the geothermally heated seafloor in the Azores. Its optimal growth temperature is between 76 and 82 degrees Celsius. Comparisons of sequences from Thermotoga strain RQ2 and T. maritima show the two genomes have a high degree of conservation of gene order, but their differences provide important information about horizontal transfer of genes involved in polysaccharide catabolism.
