| Accession numbers | NC_000854 |
| Background | A strictly aerobic hyperthermophilic archaeon isolated from a coastal solfataric thermal vent at Kodakara-Jima Island, Japan in 1993. It is a heterotroph that grows optimally at 90 to 95 degrees Celsius, pH 7.0, and a salinity of 3.5%. It is spherical shaped and covered by a cell envelope (S-layer-like structure). It contains C25-isopranyl archaeol (glycerol diether) as the hydrocarbon chain in the core lipid. (HAMAP: AERPE) |
