Mannheimia succiniciproducens MBEL55E

Names Mannheimia succiniciproducens MBEL55E
Accession numbers NC_006300
Background Capnophilic, non-spore-forming, mesophilic, Gram-negative coccobacillus that inhabits the bovine rumen. It produces volatile fatty acids in anaerobic conditions, efficiently fixes CO(2) and produces substantial amounts of succinic acid. It will probably be possible to use this bacterium for the efficient production of succinic acid, an important industrial chemical that can be used as a green feedstock for the manufacture of biodegradable polymers, synthetic resins and other chemical additives and resins.(From http://www.expasy.org/sprot/hamap/MANSM.html) (BacMap)
