Background Terriglobus saanensis (strain ATCC BAA-1853 / DSM 23119 / SP1PR4) is a Gram-negative bacterium isolated from tundra soil samples collected from Saana fjeld, Arctic-alpine tundra of Lappland, North-Western Finland. Cells are non-motile rods with a length of 1.5 to 3 um and a 3 diameter of 0.5 to 0.7 um. Colonies on agar are light beige to light pink, circular, convex and smooth. T. saanensis grows at pH 4.5-7.5 and at temperatures of 4 to 30 degrees Celsius with an optimum at pH 6.0 and 25 degrees Celsius. (Adapted from PMID: 21186292). (EBI Integr8)
