Background Mesorhizobium ciceri bv. biserrulae strain WSM1271 was isolated from Biserrula pelecinus growing in Sardinia. B.pelecinus is an annual herbaceous legume suited to arid land. M.ciceri is able to nodulate B.pelecinus and Astragalus membranaceus, but not Cicer arietinum. This is the type strain for Mesorhizobium ciceri biovar biserrulae (adapted from PMID 17473255).
