Staphylococcus_lugdunensis
Names Staphylococcus lugdunensis HKU09-01
Accession numbers NC_013893
Background Gram-positive nonmotile coccus that grows in aerobic and anaerobic conditions, in which it forms grape-like clusters. Staphylococcus lugdunensis is a member of the coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS) commonly colonizing the human skin and mucosal membranes (only a few of the Staphylococcus, including S.aureus, are coagulase positive). S.lugdunensis causes a variety of of severe nosocomial and community-acquired infections, including native valve endocarditis and catheter-related bacteremias. This clinical strain was cultured from the pus of an infected skin swab (adapted from PMID 20047907). (EBI Integr8)
